James and Tracy have opted for a honeymoon of striking contrasts. They will start their trip with overnight flight from Heathrow to the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur - one of the fastest growing, most exciting and hi-tech cities in Asia.
In less than 150 years, it has gone from being a collection of shanties built around copper mines and rubber plantations to a super-modern city which boasts some of the best hotels in the world, fabulous shopping centres, public transport network and until recently, in the Petronas Towers, the tallest buildings on the planet.
James and Tracy will have a couple of days to explore the city including its famous parks, the Chinese Night Market and fascinating Batu Caves.
From KL, they will head on to Malaysia's beautiful Borneo province, Sabah, with its beautiful beaches around Kota Kinabalu, jungles, rainforests and rivers.
They will have time to rest and relax, snorkel and water-sport before heading over to Sandakan for the amazing experience of an overnight stay on Turtle Island and a visit to the Sepilok Orang-Utan Sanctuary, before returning to Kota Kinabalu for a few more days topping up the tan before flying home.
Malaysia often plays second fiddle to its better known neighbour, Thailand. However, it deserves its reputation as a destination for discerning travellers looking for varied experiences from beaches to cities, jungles, rain-forests, fabulous scenery, wonderful food and a local population that is really welcoming and hospitable.
