For reasons that are obvious from Managing Director David's career history, bringing the delights of Austria to the widest possible audience is one of his particular amibitions. Obviously, people are already familiar with the traditional image of Austria as a classic destination for Lakes & Mountains and Ski holidays, and we have a wonderful selection of holidays offered during the summer and winter seasons by our favourite specialist tour operating partners.
If you are looking for the perfect short-break or city-break, then not many cities can compete with the Austrian jewels of Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna. There is the added convenience of being able to fly into their own airports, or in the case of Innsbruck flying into Zurich or Munich and travelling eastwards and south respectively. Munich is also a great access point for Salzburg - birth place of Mozart and many other great composers and musical traditions, including being the unforgettable backdrop to 'The Sound of Music' , A popular option with many of our clients is a multi-centre tour starting with a flight into Munich, a couple of niights in the city, then onwards to Salzburg by train, then along the banks of the Danube past the famous monastery at Melk, and into Vienna, with a flight back from there.
However, holidays now are much more about the 'experience', than just the destination, so our aim is to offer you great experiences, as well as wonderful destinations. In winter, from the end of November and throughout December, all the Austrian cities have wonderful Christmas Markets. This includes the less well-known ones, such as beautiful Bregenz on the shores of Lake Constance, or historic Linz. In summer, Klagenfurt is the starting point for exploring the delightful lakes and rolling countryside of Carintha and Styria - areas almost unknown to British visitors, but just crying out to be discovered. Or, heading eastwards, Vienna and the Burgenland are also waiting for you. Vienna is perfect for a city-break at any time of year, but it is surrounded by vineyards, and opens out into the plains of the Burgenland and Eastern Europe, where other great cities, such as Prague, Bratislava, and Vienna's old Imperial partner, Budapest await.
Discover the holiday opportunities across Austria that will entrance, inspire, surprise and delight you whatever time of year you can travel.
