Flight + Hotel and Package Booking FAQs

What is the difference between a Flight + hotel booking, and booking a ‘Package’, and what is ‘ATOL-protected’?
Using our Flight + Hotel booking system basically allows you to select a flight with the airline of your choice to a destination of your choice, and link this to a booking for accommodation, again in your choice of destination and quality of hotel. Our system offers you flights from a selection of flight consolidators and brokers, who are ABTA members, and links these to accommodation provided by a variety of brokers and suppliers, who are also ABTA members. As members of the Freedom Travel Group, when you book a Flight + Hotel arrangement through our system, this creates a ‘package booking’, as defined by EU regulations, so automatically adds a booking fee and ATOL-charges to the cost of the elements, and is thus ‘ATOL-protected’ under the scheme operated by the Freedom Travel Group.

If you book your holiday using the ‘Package’ function, the products that you are offered are provided by a selection of carefully vetted UK tour operators, such as Inghams, Olympic Holidays, Balkan Holidays etc. All these operators are ABTA members in their own right, and provide ATOL-protection for the holidays that they offer through their own schemes. These packages include flights, accommodation and transfers to/from resort. In the case of ski holidays, you will need to contact us, if you want to pre-book ski extras, such as lift passes, tuition, ski equipment etc.

Accommodation descriptions, misprints and errors
The accommodation descriptions used on this website are drawn from the information pulled-through to our site directly from the accommodation broker/tour operator, and is therefore provided in good faith that it gives an accurate representation of the property, its quality, services and surroundings. We know that all our chosen suppliers take all reasonable steps to ensure that the descriptions that they provide for our website is correct. Regrettably, occasionally an error will appear. If we are advised of this situation, we will take all reasonable steps to advise you accordingly. If the error is likely to be the cause of significant inconvenience or distress, we will try to negotiate a suitable alternative for you.

Building work and disturbance
If we discover that there is building work going on in the proximity of your hotel, which is likely to be the cause of some disturbance to you during your stay, we will take all reasonanle steps to advise you accordingly. If this work is likely to be the cause of significant inconvenience or distress, we will try to negotiate a suitable alternative for you. Please note, however, if the property description includes reference to it being close to a road, and/or having its own nightclub, and/or being located in a 'lively location, with great access to a selection of clubs, bars and restaurants', or some similar description, we will take it as understood that you are aware and accept that there are potential sources of noise or other disturbance, which you might be able to hear or experience from your room or other public areas of the property, but that you are still happy to go ahead with your booking on this basis.

Who am I contracted with?
If you book a combined Flight + Hotel arrangement, then your ultimate contract is with ourselves, on behalf of the Freedom Travel Group, and your booking is governed by the booking conditions that you can download from this site. If you are booking a ‘Package’ through our system, then these arrangements are provided by the relevant tour operator, and your ultimate contract is with them. A full copy of the relevant operator’s Booking Conditions are available on request prior to booking.

How do I book a flight + hotel?
If you click on the Flight + Hotel tab, you select your flight first to the airport destination of your choice. The system will then automatically offer you hotels of different grades in close proximity to that destination, and you are shown their position relative to the airport on the map. You can then use the different search options to refine your choice according to a range of criteria. You can change your flight, but remain with the same accommodation. You can make your choice of flight, and then link this to other accommodation, until you have the combination of flight and accommodation that best meets your needs. You can then add to this other services, such as rental vehicle, airport transfers, attraction tickets etc.

How do I book a ‘Package’, and what do I do if you do not feature the destination that I wish to visit?
You first select your departure point, either as a specific airport, or general location, and your destination airport. You then select your date of travel, duration and the number of passengers. The system will automatically search the different databases of the tour operators that we have chosen to work with, and will return a range of choices that match your requirements. You can then refine your choices, until you find the holiday that suits your requirements.

Please note that we only feature in this section the destinations served by the tour operators that we have opted to work with. This means that it does not offer a comprehensive list of all the destinations worldwide to which we can offer holidays, and it also does not mean that if your first choice of destination is not shown on the list, we cannot organise a holiday for you to that particular location. If your choice of destination, hotel, duration etc., is not available through the system, then simply use the Contact Us facility on the website to confirm your precise requirements, and we will work with a selection of other tour operators not featured on the website to match up to your requirements.

I am pregnant. Do I need to advise anyone of this before I travel?
If you are, or will be, more than 28 weeks pregnant at the time of travel, your airline or tour operator will normally require a medical certificate confirming your fitness to fly, before they allow you to travel. If you are more than 32 weeks pregnant at the time of travel, you may not be allowed to fly at all, except in emergency or special circumstances. Whatever stage of pregnancy you are at when you travel, we do recommend that you seek appropriate advice from your doctor before making a booking or travelling. It is also essential that you advise your travel insurance company of your situation, as they may impose additional conditions or restrictions to the policy that they provide. If you become pregnant after you have booked your holiday, it is again essential that you advise your travel insurance company as soon as possible of the change in your circumstances.

Can I pay a deposit for my reservation or must I pay in full at the time of booking ?
If you are using the Flight + Hotel option, then all the flights and accommodation that are bookable through this system are offered on the basis that they are paid for in full at the time of booking. As you are committed to the full cost, it is essential that you have adequate travel insurance in place, which will provide you with cover should you be forced to cancel your booking.

If you are using the Package option, then dependent upon your departure date, and the specific terms stipulated by the tour operator through whom we are booking your arrangements, you may be offered the chance of paying a deposit, and the balance no later than 12 weeks prior to departure. However, in most cases, in order to secure the special prices that we able offer through our website, this will be based on full payment at the time of booking. As outlined, as you are committed to up to the full cost of the holiday at the time of booking, it is essential that you have adequate travel insurance in place, which will provide you with cover should you be forced to cancel your booking.
