Wedding and Honeymoon Destinations
As you will see if you follow the links on the Great Experience Travel website to our Weddings and Honeymoons section, Weddings and Honeymoons are our speciality. Click on any of the links on the Weddings and Honeymoon page to find out more details of the trip that we put together for the happy couple. These are just a small selection of our wedding and honeymooners, and you will see that each of their trips was tailor-made for them as a real 'once in a lifetime' experience.
A great favourite is a trip to the beautiful Maldives, see below, but other popular options include Mauritius, the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, but often in combination with a visit to the other great West Coast cities of Los Angeles, San Fransisco and San Diego followed by a drive through the National Parks of Northern California and including a visit to the incredible Grand Canyon.
Another great choice, especially if our honeymooners have a longer time at their disposal is a trip down to Australia and/or New Zealand.
As noted above, and probably not surprisingly, The Maldives are our top honeymoon choice. There are some 'tropical island paradises' that don't quite live up to their billing. However, this can't be said of the Maldives, which truly do look like their brochure pictures. There are numerous island-resorts to chose from dependent upon your preference - some are tiny atolls with only a handful of people staying there at any one time and it will take you all of 20 minutes to walk around the whole island. These are ideal if you do want to 'get away from it all', when you can devote yourselves to each other, do some watersports and lie on the beach. The larger islands support resort complexes which might have up to 200 rooms and can accommodate up to 400 people. These are busier places which support a wider range of activities. However, you'll be surprised that even when they are full, you do get the impression of them being crowded, as the accommodation is hidden discreetly around all parts of the island.
For the Maldives, the most popular option is to go 'all-inclusive'. This is because the cost of food and especially drinks is extremely expensive, if you are buying them for yourselves. There are different types of 'all-inclusives', and we will work through with you the options that are best for you.
Whilst the idyllic 'do nothing' beauty of the Maldives suits many of our honeymoon couples, we are constantly being asked for suggestions for destinations and itineraries which combine some time staying on a beautiful tropical beach, but with the opportunity to do 'something else'. For this type of request, one of our most popular choices is Malaysian Borneo, otherwise known as the Island of Sabah. This itinerary can start with a few days citybreak in Kuala Lumpur, or Hong Kong, before flying on to Kota Kinabalu. Here there are some great hotels, lovely beaches and diving and snorkelling in the clear waters of the South China Sea. However, vistors can break their stay with a few days exploring the Borneo Jungles, the tropical rainforests, along with Sepilok, the world-famous orang-utan rescue centre. For the couple who want a little more than just a beautiful beach break, this itinerary has everything.
